The Story of Our Boeing 737 Flight Simulator ✈️From Christchurch Engineering to Silverdale SkiesThis Boeing 737 flight simulator began its journey in 2006, when it was designed and built by Pacific Simulators in Christchurch, New Zealand. Built with precision engineering, the simulator was designed to accurately recreate the cockpit environment, systems, and procedures of one of the world’s most successful commercial aircraft. The simulator originally operated as part of the Flyajet flight experience, where thousands of aviation enthusiasts, future pilots, and members of the public experienced what it takes to fly a commercial jet. Over the years, hundreds of pilots have used this simulator for training, procedural practice, and familiarisation. The simulator has also been used by real airline organisations as a training aid, demonstrating the realism and capability of this unique aviation asset. In 2022, the simulator entered an exciting new chapter when it was acquired and re-launched as FlightSim.co.nz at Megazone Silverdale. Since then, Megazone Silverdale has continued to invest in upgrades and improvements, including:
Enhanced visual graphics for greater realism
Improved and more realistic flight control systems
Live worldwide weather integration
Real-time global air traffic simulation
Ongoing technical improvements to enhance the experience
Today, nearly 20 years after it was first built, the simulator continues to inspire a new generation of aviation enthusiasts, future pilots, and curious adventurers. What you see here is more than just a simulator — it is a continuing piece of New Zealand flight simulation history. Every flight taken here continues a journey that started in 2006 and continues to evolve today.
